| I finally have a CD player in my car Car-ly got a little less ghetto, if you ignore the paint chipping off above the doors... But after years of wanting a CD player installed in my car (and being too lazy or cheap to actually buy one and get it installed) I have one ^_^ Tong had an extra, so we spent the afternoon yesterday running around buying parts to put it in and then dismantling and putting together everything. Yup. My boyfriend can be pretty handy Other than that: Christmas went well. My uncle, his wife, and 2 of my favorite cousins came down to visit as well as another uncle. We mostly sat around and ate (which seems to be the theme for ANY holiday occassion for my family) but it was nice. We also went to this drive-through light show in Grand Prairie, basically 2 miles of lights and a small holiday village as a break in the middle. I still want to go to Miracle Dallas sometime though, they have an outdoor skating rink! And some shops and concessions, etc. It lasts til the day before school starts... My birthday is tomorrow, but I'm not particularly excited about it. After the 21st bday it just doesn't seem as exciting. Now every year is just making me older and reminding me of how I'm supposed to be all mature and know what to do with my life by now :/ Oh, and I have a new internship for the Spring. It's a marketing internship with this company called RiseSmart, they're basically just starting everything up so it'll be a lot of work and good experience, but for no pay :( Still, it's what I'm more interested in so hopefully it'll be good. And there will be 3 of us interns, the 2 CEO's, and the supervisor/boss lady who works just below them. So small company but potentially good contacts and work. If I do well there's also a bonus at the end of the semester, in which I would get some money. Either way, experience in marketing = help breaking into the field = potential gold mine!!! haha, or not I just hope they don't expect me to know too much, or try to make me work as much as humanly possible. Even though I want work, I'm still pretty lazy. I start Thursday. Wish me luck!! | | |
| Anyone feel like going to Austin for the weekend? I don't really wanna drive alone.... I'll prolly stop by Waco to see my best friend Sarah for a lil while on the way though, mainly just so I can give myself a break :)
But yeah... Tong transferred so he's at UT Austin now. On the plus side, I can go on mini vacations from time to time like to the UT library! Or maybe the gym there, it's pretty nice. Why do people transfer?? >< Seems like UTD's not good enough ...OK, so maybe it's not *that* great but it's still giving me money *sigh*
On a slightly more interesting topic, I have to do a lit review (and a few other papers for this professional writing class, yay?) I'm doing it on race and its effect on eating disorders and body image. It's kinda cool, but I found an article about Thai girls and how they're becoming so much more preoccupied with their bodies. Geez... Basically in Thailand everyone is super thin anyway, so it's extremely saddening to think that they're trying to be even more skinny. My cousin had started to freak out though because when she was returning she'd gained a couple pounds (literally, like 3) and was all worried about being fatter.
Anyway, such is my life: School, previously work (and again if I actually get work at the internship *fingers crossed*), eat, sleep, talk on the phone (mainly Tong). Oh, and the occasional free food event on campus Exciting, no?

| My cousin arrives from Thailand on Thursday My aunt, uncle, and 2 younger cousins should be following in a lil while... They're just waiting for time off from work I believe. She should be here til May, but part of that time will be spent in Utah visiting my only other uncle in the U.S. I'm not sure if she's still going to come up to UTD and stay with me personally for a while, or if my parents just expect me to keep traveling to and from Richardson and Bedford (which will be hard w/o a car)
Anyway, point being: who wants to help me entertain my cousin?? I'm trying to think of some fun but inexpensive things for us to do... Any suggestions would be very welcome ^_^ Thanks!

| I
don't think I'm going to dance for Goodphil... I just feel
completely useless and like I can't get it right >< It's
bothersome! Definitely *not* fun to feel like I suck at
something. So instead I think I'm just gonna focus on soccer,
maybe basketball? If not for the fact that I tend to miss
baskets, I'll try to work on that
 Also,
I'm gonna be missing the next few practices anyway so I wouldn't be
getting much needed practice. AND there's always my midterms
that I need to study for... I still have 4 (yay?)
So
good luck to everyone!!
In other news- my parents are leaving
for Thailand this weekend. It's my grandma's 90th birthday, so
the family is trying to get a BIG reunion, including all 10 of her
children and siblings and my grandpa's side of the family. I
wish I could go! But they'll have lotsa fun
Afterwards a couple cousins and my aunt and uncle will be coming to
check out American schools and stuff since they're interested in
improving their English and enrolling. One gets to come to UTD
w/ me for a lil while, at least that's the plan so far. We'll
see how it goes... Any suggestions as to what to do to
entertain her/show her around Dallas?? I've only met her twice
and that was a couple years ago. Just thought I'd try to see
what she's interested in and go from there... Guess that's about
it for now. I *should* get back to studying...

| I can't seem to force myself to study like I used to be able to. I don't know what it is. I have a 10 page paper due in a day and a half, I'm supposed to be working on it right now, but I'm being incredibly unproductive instead. At least a majority is written... Anyway, just stalling for time so I don't have to write. Sometimes I really dislike being a sociology major bc it means soooo much writing. Then again, I tend to do decently on papers when I'm actually putting forth some effort. Go figure. I'm just growing lazier as the end of the semester nears. At least I only have 2 exams (1 will be pretty difficult- evil economics) and the paper left.
Hope everyone does well on their finals! Good luck guys! | | |
